At our exclusive blank canvas location, you're not confined by pre-set packages or rigid rules. We offer the inclusive services you'd expect from a traditional venue, but with the freedom to create your own unique wedding vision.

You choose the format, size and style of canvas structure that suits your style; from romantic pole tents to imposing nordic tipis and hand-crafted yurts, the choice truly is yours.

At 3 acres, The Lakeside provides more than sufficient space for the structure of your choice, a lakefront ceremony setup and alfresco reception drinks, plus any extras you wish to include like garden games or seating areas to relax and soak in the special day.

Whilst The Lakeside might be a blank canvas, we’re not a dry hire. Our comprehensive package includes all the essential amenities you'd expect of any typical wedding venue, such as a fully stocked bar service, luxurious toilet facilities, reliable power throughout the site and a dedicated team committed to making your special day unforgettable.

Our package goes beyond the standard offerings of many outdoor venues. Our in-house wedding planner, an expert in curating outdoor weddings, will guide you through the planning process and ensure your day is coordinated flawlessly. You’ll have the opportunity to design a bespoke menu that reflects your unique tastes, collaborating with our awardwinning head chef during a personal consultation. You’ll then be able to enjoy the full meal at a complimentary food tasting.

Alongside operating the farm estate, Wild Berry Farm owns the multi award-winning independent pub and restaurant with rooms, The Sun Inn, situated just a mile away. This is where our farming and food combine, with seasonal menus incorporating produce from our farm alongside ingredients from many of the best local suppliers in and around Bedford.

Our culinary team will craft a bespoke wedding breakfast tailored to your taste. From fine dining to sharing feasts, and from classic British comfort food to far eastern flavours, we offer endless possibilities to create an unforgettable meal. Following a personal food consultation, we provide a proposed menu and price per head. A complimentary tasting is included, as is cutlery, crockery, a service team and all else required to cater for your special day.

We know that drinks are important too, and we offer a number of flexible options.

Our daytime drinks package includes welcome drinks, table wine and fizz for your toast, with options to upgrade to premium choices. Alternatively, bring your own daytime drinks and opt for our service charge per guest - we’ll provide glassware and serve them until 6:30pm.

We provide a fully stocked and staffed indoor bar all day, included in your core package. This includes your choice of draught ale, beer or lager alongside broad selection of wines, spirits and mixers, plus alcohol-free options. For a more memorable experience, consider adding a stylish bar counter of your choice, cocktails or the expertise of a skilled mixologist.

All prices are inclusive of VAT. Venue package price applicable to bookings of up to 135 guests. Additional guest numbers are more than welcome but may be subject to an additional charge. Minimum charges apply for catering & drinks packages and bar service. Power limitations apply. Pricing valid at January 2025 and may be subject to change.

FAQs
  • All daytime catering is provided in-house by our very own exceptional team at The Sun Inn. They will craft you a bespoke wedding breakfast menu that we know you will love. We also have an extensive offering for evening food, but if you’d like to include a food truck or other external caterer for the evening they are welcome.

  • If you don’t want to take up one of our drinks packages you are welcome to provide your own reception drinks, table wine and toasting drinks, to be served until 6.30pm. We will manage this for you, providing glassware, chilling, serving and clearing, for a per head service fee.

  • We provide a fully stocked and staffed bar service to be setup inside your structure as part of our core venue package, subject to a minimum spend. You choose the physical bar counter to suit your wedding style, typically from your marquee provider, and we provide everything else. The bar can be open all day or just during the evening and card payments are accepted.

  • The majority of our couples hold a celebrant-led ceremony or blessing here at The Lakeside, it’s a truly breathtaking and unique location to make your vows. We don’t charge any extra for ceremonies. We are not licensed for legal ceremonies at present, many of our couples choose to undertake their legal paperwork in the weeks or days leading up to their wedding here.

  • The most important thing you will need to organise is a form of structure - a marquee, tipi or other form of canvas. Almost all of our couples use our preferred local supplier Funky Monkey (FM) Tents, who know our venue well and go above and beyond, but you are welcome to use the supplier of your choice. Your structure supplier can provide a package inclusive of flooring, lighting and furniture.

    It’s then mainly about design - styling, prop hire, flowers and stationery - and entertainment. DJs and bands are both welcome.

    We provide a planning guidance document and list of recommended suppliers when you book, plus our in-house wedding planner is on-hand to provide extra support and advice through your planning journey.

  • We love to party, but all good things must sadly come to an end. 11.30pm is the finish time for all of our weddings, when the bar closes and music must cease.

  • We are an animal friendly venue and love it when our couples include their four legged friends in their big day.
